Valley View House

Wow. What a view! It’ll take your breath away and quiet your soul in one swift move.

The house and annexe perch on the edge of this gentle and wild valley. It is filled with birdsong, ancient trees and what once was farmed, is now quietly rewilding and therefore full of the busy-ness of nature.

Once a smugglers paradise, now calm and serene, it’s only the wild ponies who galavant about and make themselves known.

The house was rebuilt entirely 20 years ago and every room (apart from the loo), up and down, is focused on the view. The house is styled throughout for simplicity and relaxation. Everything is well built, quality and sparkling clean. We love that there are 4 double rooms, each has a proper ensuite, and our favourite is the bottom annexe bedroom with it’s terrace. Sleep with the doors wide open…

This property is suitable for those with children over 5 years old due to the luxury of the interior.  Children will love playing on the lawns or heading out into the National Park where they can run, jump, go wild and have about 200 acres of freedom for picnics and play.

The local pub, The Foresters Arms is excellent and just down the lane. The donkeys love it here too and are loiter outside often.

You can walk for miles and miles. We love heading down through the valley and up onto Hampton Ridge with views into Dorset and over to the southern part of the National Park. Carry on and you’ll arrive at the Royal Oak in Fritham. This was a well used smugglers trail in the 1800s. For picnic spots and secret reading in the bracken, meander for 20 minutes and you’ll get perfectly lost in the sea of green ferns, flowering heather and wild ponies that carpet this area.

Cyclists will love the off road trails. Roadies will love the miles of quiet lanes. There is horse riding nearby. Or if you fancy some axe throwing… then it’s in Fordingbridge. Which, by the way, is your closest useful small town and has everything you’ll need. There are very good farms shops nearby also.

The location...

Valley View is about 5 minutes walk to the nearest pub. The Foresters. It's a good spot, donkey's rest up outside, food is good, beer local and cold! Don't miss it. There are plenty of other foodie places locally, mostly pubs and all with a good reputation.

The North of the New Forest, (that’s everywhere above Lyndhurst…) is wild and beautiful.

It is widely regarded as the wildest part of the National Park. There are fewer roads and even fewer boundary markers which makes for big views and bigger skies.
